In an 18-month engagement, working with executive level management, PS-1 provided the roles of programme director and programme office manager with the mission to design, mobilise and deliver the strategic projects behind this high profile business turnaround.
Projects included:
Stores refurbishment/re-ranging, stores systems acquisition & rollout, in-store staff and service improvements, retail operations management processes redesign, a major merchandising systems implementation, supply chain systems and operational fixes, logistics strategy development, sourcing and channel strategy developments, availability recovery initiatives, MIS design & implementation and international business growth strategy.
Key to the successful delivery of the projects was the development of an internal change capability – a dedicated internal leadership team supported by executive level programme sponsorship, dedicated resources, and carefully targeted methodologies and tools.
Training, facilitation, coaching and support in the selection of external service partners/consultants/interim resources was provided, intensively at first, decreasing as the leadership team gained experience.
Supported by these initiatives, the business was able to demonstrate achievement of its business turnaround goals, grow like-for-like sales ahead of projections, and beat profit targets.
This resulted in a tripling of the share price.
